About us
Craftsmanship & Artistic Vision
At Modopew, a bookshelf is never just a place to store things – it is meant to be a living piece of art in the home. Inspired by nature, from the raw texture of wood grain to the shapes of branches and roots, Modopew designs bookshelves that capture movement and life. Each piece is crafted to be both beautiful and practical, turning everyday furniture into functional art.
Founded in 2024, Modopew was born from the passion of Texas-based artisans and interior designers who share one vision: to bring the spirit of nature into modern living spaces. By following a direct-to-customer (D2C) model, Modopew delivers products straight from the workshop to the customer. This ensures transparent pricing, strict quality control, and the flexibility to personalize every order.
From Workshop to Living Space
The Modopew workshop, located at 2118 Fannin St, Abilene, TX 79603, spans more than 1,200 m² and blends modern technology with traditional craftsmanship. CNC cutting machines, sanding stations, and dedicated finishing rooms help refine each product. Yet, it is the hands and eyes of Modopew artisans that transform plain wood into sculptural bookshelves that feel alive in any home.
Every Tree Bookshelf goes through a careful process: wood selection, cutting, carving, sanding, natural oil finishing, and final hand inspection. Because of this meticulous approach, Modopew proudly delivers not just furniture, but functional art that lasts for years.
Our Customers
Modopew serves people who love rustic, natural, and sustainable décor—especially those aged 28 to 45 who want to create unique, inspiring living spaces. Whether it is a living room, a private library, or an art studio, Modopew bookshelves stand as a statement of creativity and individuality.
Our Products: Functional Art
Modopew specializes in handmade Tree Bookshelves that elevate interiors beyond ordinary furniture. The collection includes ready-made designs such as tree-shaped bookshelves, wall-mounted shelves, and sculptural shelving units—always available for quick shipping from the Abilene workshop.
For clients seeking something one-of-a-kind, Modopew also offers customized creations. Size, carvings, finishes, and colors can all be tailored, making each order a collaboration between the customer’s vision and Modopew’s design expertise.
The wood used—solid pine, white oak, and driftwood—comes from trusted American suppliers like Baillie Lumber Co. (New York) and Brewster Hardwoods (Texas). Each piece of lumber is chosen for durability, grain quality, and sustainability, ensuring bookshelves that are strong, safe, and eco-friendly.
The Creative Process
Modopew believes that a bookshelf should be made with patience and honesty, so every step begins with the idea of “getting it right from the start.” When new lumber arrives at the Abilene workshop, each board is carefully checked for moisture, density, and natural grain. Wood that does not meet the standard is set aside, because Modopew wants only strong, reliable timber to carry a lifetime of books and memories.
Once the right pieces are chosen, the wood is cut and shaped. CNC machines give precise lines and angles, but the character comes from the touch of the artisan. Hands guide the curves, sand the edges, and carve details that bring out the natural flow of the tree. This balance between technology and craftsmanship allows every shelf to be accurate yet unique—no two are ever exactly the same.
The finishing stage is where raw wood becomes truly alive. Each surface is sanded again and again until it feels smooth and warm to the hand. Natural oils and eco-friendly varnishes are applied in thin layers, letting the grain breathe while giving the wood protection against time and weather. The smell of fresh wood oil fills the workshop, reminding everyone that this is not just furniture but a piece of nature being preserved.
Before a bookshelf leaves the workshop, it is lifted, tested, and inspected with care. Joints are checked for strength, shelves are pressed to bear weight, and the overall form is looked at as a whole. Only when it meets both strength and beauty does Modopew allow it to be packed and sent to its new home.
A Small Team with a Big Vision
Though the Modopew team is just 12 members strong, the passion rivals that of much larger studios. Designers experiment with new organic forms, artisans with over 5 years of woodworking experience bring those ideas to life, and the Quality Control team checks every detail. Customer Care responds within 24 hours, guiding buyers from first inquiry to long-term aftercare.
Partnerships with UPS, FedEx, and DHL ensure reliable nationwide delivery, with secure packaging and real-time tracking. Each shipment arrives as promised: a carefully delivered piece of art.
At the heart of it all, Modopew is more than a furniture maker. Modopew is a storyteller, shaping natural wood into living sculptures that turn everyday spaces into places of creativity and inspiration.
